Phalodi, the driest district of the state, holds a leading position in the production of salt and solar energy. In ancient times, Phalodi was known by the names of Vijayanagar, Vijayapatan and Phalavridhika. Due to its glorious history, major religious and historical places, natural habitats of migratory birds, handicraft products, Phalodi district holds a prominent place in the tourism map.

    Phalodi district

  • Phalodi Fort

    Phalodi Fort

    The historic Phalodi Fort located in the middle of Phalodi town is currently in the list of protected monuments by the State Archaeology and Museum Department. The fort has a high and strong rampart on all sides and has many bastions. A three-storey palace with windows and a huge ramp are built in the fort. The fort was built in Vikram Samvat 1525 (1468 AD) by Rao Hammir, son of Maharaja Narsingh of the Rathore dynasty. This fort has had been very important from a strategic point of view. Various inscriptions have been found from the fort which throw light on its history. Entrance to the fort is free and entry is allowed from 09:30 am to 06:30 pm.

    Kalyan Rai Ji Temple, Phalodi

    The ancient Kalyan Rai Ji temple is situated in front of the Phalodi fort. The inscriptions of 1188 AD, 1639 AD and 1717 AD found in the temple mention the various historical architectural and religious works done in the temple premises at that time. This temple is built in the ancient Nagar style hence its structure resembles the temples of South India.

    Shri Latiyal Mata Temple, Phalodi

    The ancient temple of Shri Latiyal Mata is situated in the middle of Phalodi city. There are two temples in the temple complex, one of which is a small temple which is called Juna Mandir by the local residents and the other is the main temple situated at a relatively lower height, in which the original idol of Goddess Mahishasura Mardini is installed in the form of Latiyal Mata. The Shami tree (Khejri) situated in the temple and the the eternal flame which has been lightning up continuously for many years are especially worth seeing. Every year a fair is organized in the temple during Navratri in which thousands of devotees come from the country and abroad. The time for temple darshan is from 05:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 05:30 pm to 09:00 pm.

  •  Shri Gaudi Parsvanath Jain Temple

    Shri Gaudi Parsvanath Jain Temple

    Shri Gaudi Parshvanath Jain Temple is situated in the middle of Phalodi town. Tripolia gate is made for entry into the temple. The idol of Mulnayak Shri Parshvanath Ji made of white stone is installed on the second floor of the temple. Artistic inlay work of colourful glass and gold plating has been done on the roof and walls of the temple. Due to the unique architecture of the temple, the entire temple remains illuminated by the rays of the sun. The idols of various Jain Tirthankaras are installed on different floors of the temple. The time for temple darshan is from 05:30 am to 11:30 am and from 05:30 pm to 08:30 pm.

    Khinchan

    Khinchan village, located 4 km from the Phalodi district headquarters, is famous all over the world as the winter resting place of the migratory bird Kurja (domicile crane) coming from Siberia. Every year between September and March, an estimated twenty to twenty-five thousand domicile cranes come to Khinchan for winter stay. Apart from Khinchan pond and birds feed house, more than fifty carved havelis made of red stone are worth seeing for bird watching in Khinchan. Apart from Kurjan birds, many species of migratory and native birds can be seen in Khinchan.

    Pabuji Temple, Kolu Village

    The temple of Rajasthan's famous folk deity Pabuji is located in Kolu village, 27 km from Phalodi district on the way to Village Dechu. There is an old temple made of red stone in the temple complex which is called Juna Mandir and there is a white temple nearby which is known as Naya Mandir. A panorama of folk deity Pabuji has been constructed by Rajasthan Heritage Conservation and Promotion Authority near the temple. A huge fair is held in Kolu Pabuji on every Chaitra Amavasya in which thousands of devotees come.

    Jambholav Dham, Village Jamba

    Jambholav Dham, the main pilgrimage site of Guru Shri Jambheshwar, the founder of Bishnoi sect, is located in Jamba village of Bap tehsil of Phalodi district. The temple of Shri Jambheshwar and Jumbh Sarovar are the main sights in Jamba village. Every year a fair is held here on Chaitra Amavasya in which thousands of devotees come.

    Temple of Folk God Mehuji Mangaliya, Bapini

    The temple of folk deity Mehuji Mangaliya is situated in Bapini village, 80 km away from Phalodi town. In the rural areas of Rajasthan, folk deity Mehuji Mangaliya is worshipped as folk deity and cow protector. On the day of Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami, a fair of folk deity Mehuji Mangaliya is held in Bapini village, in which thousands of devotees come.

    There is a temple of the famous folk deity of Rajasthan Hadabuji Maharaj in Bangti village, located at a distance of 19 kilometers from Phalodi city. In the rural areas of Rajasthan and neighboring states, Hadabuji is worshiped as a folk deity, as one of the Panch Peers, a compassionate saint, a protector of cows, a lover of nature, and a great expert in shakun shastra (shagun). Bangti village, located 19 km from Phalodi city, houses the temple of Rajasthan's famous folk deity Hadbuji Maharaj. In the rural areas of Rajasthan and neighboring states, Hadbuji is worshipped as a folk deity, as a kind saint, cow protector, nature lover etc. The specialty of the temple of folk deity Hadbuji Maharaj located in Badi Bangti village is that the bullock cart of Hadbuji Maharaj is worshipped here. Every year a huge fair is held in Bangti on Bhadrapada Krishna Shashthi in which thousands of devotees come.

    The famous temple of Shri Karni Dham is situated in Suvap village near Aau village, 58 km south east of Phalodi district. Apart from Shri Karni Mata Dham, the temple of Avad Mata in Suvap and the memorial built at the birthplace of Shri Karni Mata are worth visiting. Every year during Navratri, a fair is held in Suvap in which a grand procession ceremony held which thousands of devotees participate.Apart from Shri Karni Mata Dham, the temple of Awad Mata in Suvap and the memorial built at the birth place of Shri Karni Mata are worth seeing.     The red stone mansions of Phalodi city are very famous for their grandeur and carvings. The mansions of Seth Sangidas Thanvi, Lalchand Dadha, Phoolchand Gulechha and Motilal Amarchand are prominently worth seeing.
